Since Google is changing its algorithm constantly to create new rules of good link building and bad link building, SEO mareketers most of the time feel frustrated instead of being motivated to adapt to those new rules.
The reason is that most SEO marketers were trying to figure out to work on the bottom line of what’s still working and what’s not. So when there’s any change implied by Google, marketers have no choice but to deal with it.
But I found that we don’t have to be panic and always change whenever Google rules change. The key is to doing the link building naturally. So how does Google define natural link building vs. unnatural link building? An easy and quick answer would be: how any other people (here I mean human not robot or machine) would normally link to you when they found some valuable stuff on your website?
Are article marketing, press release marketing, guest blogging, comment marketing (and so on) still working? Yes, they are. And now you just have to do them in a smart and natural way. Pick those high ranking article sites and blogs. At least pick those highly relevant sites. Don’t force those anchor texts just for back link or ranking purposes. Spinning with way more variables, for examples, your brand name, company name, and your website domain link directly.
But the key is to have top quality, share valuable contents. So that interested audiences would eager to link to you and share it with thousands in their ways.
I totally agree with what explained in the video below about link building strategies that always working no matter how Google change its rules. In the video it said and I quote:
“The high reward link on the other hand, the kind that Google seems to reward with higher rankings, better indexing and crawling are links that aren’t easy to scale. You can’t just pop them into a crawler and scale them out throughout the web or pay somebody to build them for you. There are very few patterns that Google can detect, and more often than not you don’t control the anchor text, which is a completely more natural state if you think about it. If people are linking to you, if it’s an editorial type link, you probably don’t have control over how people are linking to you. Those are the high reward type links that people like.”
